Org. Setting and Reporting
This internship is located with the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT), under the Policy, Strategy and Governance Division. The internship is for three months with an opportunity for extension, depending on the needs of the Office. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities: The Intern will support the development and implementation of international security work and approaches for OICT services and systems, building partnership with internal and external entities locally and globally, project management and creation of global standards and policies. He/she will be responsible for supporting the conception, drafting or producing of specific types of information communications products for target audiences, to include promotional products, online content (e.g. blog posts and wikis), graphics, and video clips. Candidates must be familiar with social media, web-based tools, and have a deep understanding of how to use them in connection with international security issues. Responsibilities may include the following: -Conceptualize and draft promotional copy for use in different marketing and business channels, including advertising, Internet, and e-mail; ConceptuaIizes and creates multimedia and graphic material for varied print and electronic media. Prepares and coordinates the development of new content in websites and professional online communities and groups; drafts wiki content and blog posts, and Coordinates with the reporting officer; Participates in writing reports and papers on systems-related topics, system requirements, information strategy, cybersecurity. Conduct research and present findings on information technology, cybersecurity, data analytics and technology innovation like AI, Blockchain and other innovations i.e., best practices in information technology policies, innovative use of information technology, knowledge management, information security, cybercrime etc; Additional activities that may be required to ensure the success of the work team. The intern will have an opportunity to gain practical knowledge and understanding in the project and resources planning, implementation, and operation of United Nations global information and communications technology.

Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must
meet one of the following requirements:
(a)Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree
or equivalent, or higher); or,
(b)Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree
programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
Studies/degree in the areas of Information and Communications Technology, Media Studies, Information Science, Information Systems, Information Management, Project Management, Business Management, Marketing, Communications, Library Science or related field is desirable.
Proficiency in standard office automation equipment (e.g. computer, scanner, printer, etc.) and software systems (e.g. Microsoft Windows 7 or similar; Microsoft Office or similar; Lotus Notes or similar, etc.) is required. Familiarity with cutting-edge technology and tools and/or have experience with social networking and collaboration platforms is desirable.
Candidates should also have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter; and the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views;
Work Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
